The actress is best known for her role as Kate Capshaw, an American actress who has retired. She is most famous for her portrayal of Willie Scott, an American nightclub singer and performer in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), directed by her husband Steven Spielberg. She was in Dreamscape (1984), Power(1986), SpaceCamp(1986), Black Rain (1989), Love Affair (94), Just Cause (1995) and The Love Letter (1999). The portraiture work of Capshaw was displayed in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Capshaw was the daughter of Beverley Sue (nee Simon), who is a beauty and travel consultant as well as Edwin Leon Nail (an airline employee of the airline). At the age of five she relocated to St. Louis and graduated from Hazelwood Senior High School. Capshaw was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in education. She was also a part of Alpha Delta Pi. She taught Special Education at Southern Boone High School in Ashland, Missouri, and Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri.
